Berry & Smitty |
![]() |
Smitty, a 12-year-old male Chihuahua, and Berry, a 2-year-old female cat, were found outside a vet's office in May. We have no idea what prompted their person to toss these two charming creatures because there was no note accompanying them. This duo has touched us in a special way because they have such a deep bond. We decided they couldn't be separated so they were moved into their own double-cage in the Cat Loft, where Smitty has stood his ground in front of the teepee bed where his "girlfriend" likes to lounge. At first, when volunteers tried to approach either of them, the chubby pooch would growl (not too ferociously) and pace the premises. But in the weeks since their arrival, Smitty's mellowed. Now, you just have to spend a little time sweet-talking him, and his Chihuahua-like "grrrs" turn into whimpers of joy and he covers your face and arms in kisses. Berry's an absolute love-bug, too. Smitty's a little overweight, but other than poor eyesight, he's in good health. His youthful cat companion seems to be just fine. If you think you might like to adopt these two loyal companions and give your home some intra-species flair, stop by and we'll be happy to introduce you! |

Borax |
![]() |
Borax does not live up to his abrasive-sounding name. He's actually super calm. Sure he wants you to pet him, but he's very passive about it. This gentle boy was found on the street, where he obviously had a rough time of it. He's ready to settle down and become someone's cuddly "couch potato". |

splash |

Splash is a beautiful, senior lady who is somewhat shy. However, if you approach her gently, this little sweetheart will come over to you and say hello. We believe she may have diminished eyesight. Please give this sweet, gentle girl a new forever home. |

Skye was adopted from BARC 4 years ago and then recently returned by her people who could no longer care for her. She is upset about being unrooted from her comfortable life and wants nothing more than to be a happy housecat again. She's not nuts about other cats, so would do best as a solo pet. |

kitty |
![]() |
Kitty was surrendered to BARC due to her person's allergies. She is a lovely, sweet cat, who spends most of her time huddled at the back of her cage, a sure sign of depression (abandoned cats usually have a more difficult time adapting to shelter life than cats that come from the street.) We're sure she'll be very grateful for a second chance at a happy home life and will thank you with lots of cuddles and purrs. |
